I've been making jewelry ever since I can remember. I have always loved how fulfilling it is to work with my hands and create something beautiful from many different pieces. I started selling my handmade pieces at local craft markets back in 2014 and put every penny I had back into my next supply purchase. It was an amazing creative outlet for me but it never dawned on me that I could actually make it a source of income to support me and my family. My jewelry began to gain some traction through social media and I decided to take a big leap. GEMS was formed into an official business in 2017 with me as the sole employee for the first two years. I made the jewelry, photographed it, shipped it, managed social media and even did my own taxes for a while. I wore many hats and got a crash course in running a business. Fast forward a few years and now I have a team of 5 helping me run this circus and I feel incredibly blessed every day that my once “creative outlet” has grown into a full blown business. Don’t get me wrong, with each new stage of GEMS I still feel like an infant learning to walk but when it gets hard, I stop and pinch myself to remember that I get to do my dream job everyday.

My jewelry has evolved over time from plastic glitter beads (hello elementary school bff bracelets) to silicone teething necklaces to the beautiful bracelets and necklaces you see on the website today, but one thing remains constant: quality is the most important thing to me. Someone once told me “perfection is in the details” and I cling to that daily as I run my business. There are always opportunities to cut corners to save a dollar or two but in the end I find that it affects the quality of my jewelry and that’s not something I’m willing to sacrifice. I continually search for the highest grade materials to make GEMS jewelry not only stunning aesthetically, but durable as well.
